Recipe: Apple Fritters

Ready for fall? I sure am! I am eagerly waiting for the temperatures to decrease gradually and the scent of pumpkin spice to fill my home. As we get ready for Fall, I wanted to share one of my favorite Apple Fritters recipes that will sure get you as excited for Fall as I am! 
 

These baked apple fritters are so delicious. They are super soft and crunchy and do not require any frying. The broiled vanilla glaze is the cherry on top! Prep and cooking time is only 30 minutes. The recipe makes 10 fritters. Feel free to double or triple the ingredients as needed.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Whisk together all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add butter and mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs (Use a mixture as needed). 

3. Start whisking! Whisk milk, egg, and vanilla extract together. Stir into the flour mixture until they are all combined. stir in the chopped apples little by little as you mix. 

4. Use a spoon to form small mounds of the mixture and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. (should be enough to make 10)

5. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 400 degrees F

6. Preheat your oven’s broiler. Mix confectioner’s sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Brush a layer of glaze over the apple fritters, and place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes.
