Top Ten Coffee Houses in Phoenix

We all rely on a good drive-through chain for our java sometimes, but there are so many wonderful coffee houses to explore in Phoenix. So good news for all you tired mamas, we’re sharing the top ten coffee houses for you to get your caffeine boost and maybe even find a moment of peace!

32 Shea is located, as its name suggests, at 32nd Street and Shea. It offers coffee, food,
cocktails and more making it a perfect spot to let your coffee date slip into happy hour or to spend all day getting a little work done on their calming covered patio. (It is dog friendly too if you want to bring the pup along!) Their signature Nutella Mocha does not disappoint, with a rich taste that isn’t too sweet and hits the spot. You can also customize your drinks with their house-made syrups such as lavender or rosemary honey.

Coffee Zona is located off 7th street and Colter and it is a small but mighty local shop. If you are a music lover, they have records on sale for you to peruse while you wait for your Sunrise Latte (that would be a vanilla and honey caffeinated treat!) or a churro latte (exactly as delicious as it sounds). There are several pastry options to go with your drink of choice.

Cultivate is a coffee shop and roastery in the Sunnyslope area. Cultivate is committed to sourcing ethical, sustainable coffee and is focused on giving back to the community through providing employment opportunities to young people aging out of foster care as well as refugees, and through offering community building events such as game nights and kid craft events. They offer a variety of drinks, but their regular coffee is good enough to already feel like a treat.

coffeeElevate is found in North Phoenix- part of the shops at Norterra. Elevate roasts their coffee and espresso beans in-house and offers live music form local artists on Friday evenings. Try  one of their lattes and they will donate ten cents to a charity that funds clean water in Africa. If you are feeling hungry they have an impressive menu of crepes both sweet and savory!

The Henry Coffee XV is located in the Arcadia area and has plenty of communal indoor seating as well as some cute patio seating. With plenty of signature drinks such as the Wildflower (espresso with steamed milk, vanilla syrup and a splash of chai) and really well done standard coffee shop fare such as their green tea, there’s something for everyone. For something healthy and filling try their quinoa breakfast burrito, or if your sweet tooth is calling you can’t go wrong with their caramel bun.

Lucis at the Orchard is located off Glendale and 12th St and is perfect for a coffee date where you can bring the kids, the dogs, or both! They have a large patio area and a splash pad for the kids in the summer months. They have giant cinnamon rolls and other amazing baked goods. If you are looking for an indulgent treat, you can compliment your coffee with a berry bellini float- champagne poured over one of their seasonal gelato selections.

Lux is an uptown Phoenix staple with what feels like a different vibe in each section of their coffee shop- located on Central just South of Camelback. Their pastry selection is truly stunning but if nothing catches your eye you can always devour an order of avocado toast or a giant dutch pancake. Lux is also a great spot to meet up with anyone who would prefer some decaf options as their fresh squeezed juice and lemonade are wonderful and their Italian sodas are well mixed and wonderfully cool on a warmer Phoenix day.

Press has several locations in the Phoenix metro area including their Roastery location on 32nd street which allows you to watch the roasting process firsthand! If you are looking for a modern feel and a place to focus, Press might be a great match for you. If you want to buy some beans for some home brew, be sure to ask about their Press On Charities blend and who their current charity partner is.

Sip Coffee and Beer Garage is located at Indian School and 35th St. The “Garage” was given that name and bases its industrial style on the fact that the building used to be an Avis Lube. It has an open feel with two different patios and there is a horchata cold brew on the menu that is calling our names.

Songbird Coffee and Tea House is found in downtown Phoenix. This artsy coffee shop is located in a historic downtown house and you can often find live music on their patio and local artists showcase their work inside. If you are trying to have a coffee date with a tea lover, Songbird offers over 25 kinds of looseleaf tea in addition toe their espresso and coffee selections.

  1. I love all of these places! Another must is a new spot in Central Phoenix – Brightside Studios. My favorite is their lavender latte!
