Red, white, and blue pasta

0
Ready for the 4th of July? You may want to add one more dish to your 4th of July menu. This year, I attempted to make red, white, and blue pasta, and let me tell you, not only did it look patriotic and festive but, it tasted so good too! It is definitely going to be a hit at this year’s barbeque. I am so excited to share the pasta recipe with you all and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Ingredients:
1 (16-ounce) box of rotini pasta
2-3 drops of red and blue liquid food coloring and 2 large Ziploc bags
1 pint of cherry tomatoes, cut into small pieces
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
1 cup of chopped black olives
1 (16-ounce) bottle of balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing

 Instructions:
1. Cook your pasta per package directions until al dente. Once the pasta is cooked, rinse with cool water.
 2. In a large Ziploc bag, add 2-3 drops of red food coloring and 1 tablespoon of water. Repeat in another bag with the blue food coloring adding 1 tablespoon of water.
3. Separate pasta into 3 equal portions
4. Once the pasta had cooled, place 1 of the 3 portions into the bag with the red coloring and seal the bag. Place another third portion of pasta into the blue bag and seal.
5. Mix the pasta with coloring. Continue until the pasta is all colored. If the pasta needs additional color, mix 1 drop of food coloring with 1 tablespoon of water and add it to the bag until the desired color is reached. Once both bags are mixed, rinse the noodles (separately) and drain well.
6. Once the pasta has been drained from all water, combine all the pasta into a large bowl and add the tomatoes, cheese, olives, and dressing. Mix until well combined. Cover and chill for 3 hours.

I tried to make the steps as easy as possible and I promise it is much easier than it sounds! I cannot wait to hear all the fireworks going off and smell all the barbecuing. I hope you have a joyful and safe 4th of July!
