Fashion and Beauty Friday – Health and Beauty Uses for Honey

Honey

Honey has tons of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that make it great for our bodies, inside and out.  It has been said that Cleopatra used honey to keep her skin looking beautiful.  Many of you know the health benefits of eating honey and using it in recipes in place of sugar, but what you may not know are all the things you can use honey for on your external body.  Here are a few of my favorites.

1) Honey Firming Face Mask Recipe

To smooth and clean skin, minimize pores, and reduce the signs of aging, whisk an egg and a spoonful of honey.  Rub onto face and leave on for 10 minutes.  Rinse with warm water.

2) Honey Hair Shine Booster

To make hair shiny and healthy, mix a spoonful of honey with about a quart of warm water.  Rinse this through your hair after shampooing.

3) Cleansing Honey Facial Scrub

To smooth away blemishes and brighten, tone, and moisturize your skin, stir a few pinches of ground nuts into a spoonful of honey with a squeeze of lemon juice.  Gently rub onto your wet face and rinse.

4) Honey Bath Potion

To leave your whole body feeling smooth and soft, pour a cup of honey into bath water and soak it in.

Some other interesting uses for honey are to relieve hangovers, heal wounds, soothe sore throats and coughs, and remove parasites.

Make sure you are using pure honey for the beauty treatments above and not artificial honey made from sugar.  The darker the honey, the better, since it has more antioxidants.

Hopefully, you enjoy and try out a couple of these tricks!  Do you have any other uses for honey or other secret beauty ingredients for us to try?

  1. Jenna,

Great information! My Mom, Grandma Tinez, always rubbed eye whites on her face while making breakfast. She would

also made honey face masks.I always thought that she looked younger than her age. I’m going to try to soak in a honey

bath to see how it works out.
