3 DIY Beauty Hacks

Check out these 3 DIY Beauty Hacks from our contributor, Nevin! You probably have these items in your home!

I have always been a fan of DIY beauty. I tend to make my own creams, face masks, body scrubs, and bath bombs (when I have the time). The fact that I know what ingredients I am putting on my face and skin makes me feel a little more at ease. I always point out that just because a beauty product is marked “natural” does not mean it is 100% safe for your skin. Keep in mind that not all products work for everyone. If you are a person who struggles to find a good and effective product or doesn’t know much about DIY beauty, I compiled a list of three of my favorite DIY beauty hacks and wanted to share them with you.

The first item is a breakfast item that most either love or hate. Can you guess what I am talking about? Pour hot milk or water over it and you have oatmeal! Colloidal oatmeal AKA grounded oat grain is known for improving dry skin and locking moisture. Add warm water to the colloidal oatmeal and mix it well. Place the mixture on your dry skin and rinse after 15 minutes. Thank me later!

The second item is needed to make guacamole! If you guessed Avocados, you are 100% correct. Avocados contain natural oils and, if used often, they can prevent acne, wrinkles, and blemishes. Once you mash it, spread it on your face as a mask and rinse after 10-15 minutes! Makes a great mask!

The third item is Winnie The Pooh’s favorite food! “A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside” (Winnie The Pooh). Yup, we are talking about, honey! Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredient. Honey is used as a face mask to reduce the bacteria that evolves to pimples and blackheads. Honey can also help with the inflammation caused by breakouts. Just make sure you rinse with warm water after you apply it.
