Consignment Sale Season

1

sale2I look forward to this time of year. Just when my little boy’s belly begins sticking out from under his shirts (so cute) and his pants start getting a little too snug and short (not so cute) consignment season rolls around! I think I’m like a lot of moms out there. I love to dress my son in fashionable clothes, but I don’t want to pay full price for them. Sure, there are days when something catches my eye and I just “have to have it” and I will pay full price, but that rarely happens. I’d much rather get a good deal. That’s why consignment sales are such a great place to shop and here in the North Valley, there are several that are worth your time.

Rhea Lana’s

When: March 10th-17th

Where: Glendale Market Square Shopping Center (17045 N. 59th Avenue in the NE corner of Bell Road and 59th Avenue)

For times, go to website: www.nwphoenix.rhealana.com/csssaleinfo

What you’ll find: Name brand and boutique brand children’s clothing. You’ll also find children’s furniture, toys and baby equipment.

Why you should go: This sale is great because of how long it is open – 8 days! Even busy moms are bound to get there at least one day if not two. I also look forward to shopping the big selection of new Melissa & Doug toys. This is a great place to get brand new toys at a discounted price for upcoming birthdays and even Christmas gifts.

50% off Day: There are actually two days you can stop by to check out what’s half off, Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday Noon-6pm.

Charity Information: Consignors are able to donate their unsold items to Ameripsych, a group that helps foster families.

Kid’s Closet Connection

When: March 12th-15th

Where: Mountain Ridge Church (23104 N. 67th Avenue, Glendale)

For times, go to website: www.kidscloset.biz

What you’ll find: Toys, clothing, baby and children’s equipment and furniture

Why you should go: This is one of the area’s largest sales. More than 200 families participate, so you can imagine how much stuff that many kids can generate. What I like most about this sale is that it has a ton of toys. So, if you can’t get there on the first day, there’s still plenty of toys to choose from.

50% off Day: This sale discounts both clothing and other items on Friday 9am-3pm.

Charity Information: Consignors can opt to donate their unsold items to ThriftSmart, a local non-profit that distributes goods to several charities.

Just Between Friends

When: March 15th-17th

Where: Thunderbird School of International Management (59th Avenue between Thunderbird Road and Greenway Road)

For times, go to website: www.nwphoenix.jbfsale.com

What you’ll find: Maternity/pregnancy and baby items. Clothing for kids 0 to teens. Furniture, sporting goods and video games.

Why you should go: I went to this sale a couple of years ago and found some great deals on a couple of larger items, including a little tricycle. I couldn’t believe the bike was still there because it was the last day and I got it for $15. It looked nearly new.

50% Off Day: You can get 25% off on Saturday 5pm-7pm and 50% off on Sunday 8am-1pm.

Charity Information: This sale donates merchandise to Kidz 2 Kidz Klozet which supports foster families in our area.

MOMS Club of Phoenix-Happy Valley Baby and Kid’s Sale

When: April 5th-6th

Where: Foothills Christian Church (3951 W. Happy Valley Rd., Glendale)

For times, go to website: http://hvmomskidsale.blogspot.com

What you’ll find: Clothing, toys, furniture, baby equipment, books and videos

Why you should go: In the interest of full disclosure, I am a part of the MOMS Club of Phoenix-Happy Valley. I actually found out about the MOMS Club through this sale when I was pregnant a few years ago. At the time, I didn’t know what I needed or what I should have, but I got some great advice from some of the moms who were there that night. Now, I count myself as a veteran and look forward to helping new moms get ready for their little ones.

50% Off Day: All clothing is half off on Saturday 7am-11am.

Charity Information: Not only does the charity receive merchandise, it actually receives a cash donation. This is the MOMS Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and this year, we are supporting S.W.A.N.’s (Someone Worth Accepting Now) The Butterfly House, a shelter for battered women and their children.

Emily
The last few years have brought big changes for Emily. After spending years in high-stress, deadline-driven TV jobs in East Coast metros, family circumstances brought her and her husband Joel to the Arizona desert. Now this former news junkie is a stay-at-home mom to Miles, a fast-talking toddler with energy to spare. She spends her days teaching him about faith, letters, numbers and manners. Whenever he’s asleep she boots up the laptop to write for North Phoenix Moms Blog and other freelance gigs. Whatever spare time she has left is spent on a hike with her family or a rare date night with Joel, at the gym, coffee and dinner with friends, or in her craft room creating simple, beautiful jewelry for her online boutique, Hazel & May, and giving too many treats to her pups, Pepper and Gizmo.
