I can’t quite believe it’s that time of year again. . . . Back to School! First day jitters can affect everyone. . . children, parents, and even teachers. This year is especially bittersweet for me because my little guy is starting preschool, eeep!
We’ve all heard how important breakfast can be for us; it keeps our minds alert and ready for the day, so why not kill two birds with one stone and calm some jitters and feed those brains with a fun back to school breakfast party!
I have seen these apple plates pop up on Pinterest here and there, and thought they were so cute! Too cute in fact to just eat off, so I created an apple backdrop, which cost me a total of $1 for the red paper plates. I raided my son’s art basket and used green construction paper to make a stem and leaf and simply hot glued it to the top of the plate. Then using painters tape I had on hand, I taped them to the wall.
The “Back 2 School” chalk board garland I made again from construction paper, a piece of white chalk, and twine.
For food, I tried to keep it fairly healthy. Egg and veggie “muffins,” fruit, whole grain cereal, and milk. I did add a little sweet treat in there with the cinnamon rolls. For a fun presentation, I laid the egg muffins on a bed of pencils, I served cereal in origami binder paper boxes, and topped the cinnamon rolls with a fun pencil and paper topper.
The first day of school is a BIG day, so why not make it a little more special by sending kids off with a festive and healthy breakfast?
