Maybe it is raindrops on roses. Or perhaps whiskers on kittens. Whatever your fancy, we all have everyday items that we love, use, and cannot live without. They may be items that we don’t often pause to think much about and perhaps we don’t even think twice when we stock up on them at the store. They are the things that make our day to day routines, just a little bit more extraordinary. Simply put, they are our favorite things.
Recently, the ladies of North Phoenix Moms blog decided to spend some time getting to know one another outside of the blog-o-sphere. And what better way to learn about each other than to have a “Favorite Things Party”? Whether planning a night with the girls that you have known since grade-school, or planning an event for a new group of professional colleagues (or anywhere in between), this party format is fun, easy, and mindful of the pocket-book!
So what do you do at a Favorite Things Party you ask? Well, it’s super simple!
Step One: Gather a few of your favorite ladies and have each of them bring 3 of one of their “favorite things” (3 of the same item) all wrapped up pretty to the party. It usually works best to set a dollar limit so that everyone is in the same ballpark. (For our recent party, we set a $10 per item limit!)
Step Two: As everyone arrives, have them put their wrapped items on a table and put their name in a hat 3 times.
Step Three: Time to open the items!!! Each person who brought an item, picks three names out of the hat. These are the 3 lucky ladies that will get to take home that person’s item – and a new favorite thing!
Step Four: The 3 ladies that were drawn for that item open their gift and oooh and aaahhh accordingly! The lovely lady that brought that item, tells a little snippet about why it is one of her favorite things and then you move on down the table and repeat!
Step Five (and One through Four): Eat, drink, and enjoy each other’s company! We made our party a pot-luck and learned a little about everyone’s food tastes as well – added bonus!
Seriously, so much fun and you get to know your circle of friends even better! In the end, everyone goes home with 3 gifts and potentially 3 new “favorite things”!
