Our contributor, Wendie, wants you to know that you are seen and you are loved! Moms helping moms is the reason this website exists! Be sure to scroll to the bottom for a giveaway and a list of the free supply events around the valley.
When you scroll through social media, you can’t help but feel the excitement of summertime reels, right? — the breath of fresh air, the peace, laughter, and the indescribable joy of creating core memories with those who mean the most to you.
Is that an accurate depiction for you? For many, not so much. Some of you mamas have experienced illness and are worn down from the stress of the urgent, frazzled from the umpteenth fight you’ve had to break up between your children. The doldrums of life, whether job-related or from loss, have made you feel the squeeze of apprehension and the unknown. Do you know that you are not alone?
Those temperatures and financial woes aren’t the only thing rising — school is probably the last thing on your mind, but before you know it, “Meet the Teacher” and school supply checklists are glaring at you from your inbox. We want to help alleviate some of the penny-pinching for your chance to win $30 toward school supplies! It’s my little way of saying, “I see you. You matter. It’s okay to receive a little help.”
Below are some resources to help ease the burden of back-to-school expenses—discounts, free school supplies, haircuts, sports physicals, and more. Please click the links to find out more.
If you’d like your chance to win $30, please comment on this post and let me know a positive goal you’ve set for you and your children this coming school year. On July 26, we will randomly select and notify the winner. Best of luck, and may your needs be met in tangible ways. All the while, know you are doing fantastic, mamas, even in the hottest and most profound struggles. We are here for you.
Sincerely,
Wendie

My goal is to be more organized and have a consistent routine!
I hear you! That does help!
Love this!!! We have a goal to read 2 books each night before bed with my son. I am going to make it a personal goal to also read at least 1 chapter each night. I love to read but I don’t always make the time for it.
That is a great goal! Do you try to allot a certain amount of time to read before bed, or do you wing it? I know some are strict about bedtimes; others let it slide if they are in the middle of a great story.
A positive goal for this school year is to ask questions if we don’t know something. Chances are at least one other student doesn’t know either.
Yes! Normalizing that it is OKAY to ask for help is good practice. Kiddos should never have to worry about peer opinion/rejection.
I would love to see my kids step up in responsibility. They need to remember to bring home their homework and folders, and pack it up again that night. For me, I need to work on opportunities for them to do this instead of doing it myself because it seems easier.
💯! I am in the thick of this right now, trying to teach about accountability and responsibility and provide my kiddos with opportunities instead of saying, ” It’s easier to do it myself.”
Via random selection, our winner is Dana! Congratulations! I will reach out to you via email. 🙂
Thank you to everyone for your comments. I especially appreciate your desire to set positive goals for yourself and your family. Have a wonderful school year, everyone!
