The Valley’s Best Restaurants to Celebrate Your Love

2

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so here’s your guide to the most romantic restaurants in Phoenix + around the valley to help you choose where to spend that precious date night! Instead of going on Valentine’s Day itself (which happens to fall on a Tuesday this year, how boring), head out on the weekend before or after. Most restaurants are mobbed on the day of and there usually are restrictions with set menus. I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of either. So call that babysitter and get out just the two of you! Head out and celebrate your love!

romantic restaurants in PhoenixPhoenix

Nobuo at Teeter House – This award winning restaurant certainly earned it! With the quaint, historic house setting and the incredibly presented dishes, you will love everything about this place! Easily some of the best food in town, Nobuo at Teeter House will knock your socks off with their dishes.  Be sure to try the Grapefruit & Hamachi and trust your server’s recommendations! The drinks are to die for.

Pizzeria Bianco – You can’t go wrong with either location: the Town & Country spot has a small local feel, which I just love, while the downtown location offers a romantic (and likely needed) opportunity to walk around after all that amazing pizza. These quaint pizzerias have the freshest pizza that will leave you asking for “piu” (“more” in Italian). I recommend ordering two different types of pizza (my favorites are the Rosa and Sonny Boy) and sharing since there are so many yummy ones to choose from!

Fuego Bistro – This hidden gem is one of my favorite restaurants!  The Latin inspired food is delicious! I highly recommend the green chile cornbread casserole for a side dish. The atmosphere oozes romance with it’s twinkle lit patio (if the weather allows, sit outside!) and dimly lit rooms.  They serve up big portions, so be prepared to leave full and happy!

Tuck Shop – Another “tucked away” gem located in the Coronado District. I try and order something different from their fun and eclectic menu every time I go. Everything is amazing … especially their Stuffed Medjool Dates! This restaurant is romantic without being “fancy” and both the food and service will make you want to return sooner rather than later.

Wrigley Mansion – Sitting on top of a hill, this Phoenix landmark offers breathtaking 360 degree views. It was built in 1932 by William Wrigley Jr., of chewing gum fame, and offers so much charm and history.  Enjoy the Italian inspired menu at Geordie’s before or after you stop in for a glass of wine at Jamie’s Wine Bar.  They are known for their locally raised, organic beef but I have always enjoyed their seafood selections.  Make sure to allow time to walk around the elegant mansion and beautiful grounds for some evening romance.

Vincent on Camelback – The perfect location for any special occasion! Vincent on Camelback will make you feel like you’re right at home with their cozy setting and intimate dining room. You’ll be well taken care of with their exceptional service. The lobster bisque and duck confit are amazing; their menu boasts less rich menu items as well, if these aren’t your cup of tea.

Cibo – This urban pizzeria serves up outstanding house made pasta and is located downtown in a charming 1913 bungalow.  I cannot get enough of their Neapolitan style pizza, incredible patio and mood setting fireplace!  Try and save room for my personal favorite menu item: the Nutella e Mascarpone (or Nutella e Banana if that is more your jam!).

Different Pointe of View – This renowned mountaintop restaurant is the epitome of romance and perfect for a special evening out.  The restaurant at Tapatio Cliffs Hilton offers fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere with stunning views atop North Mountain.  They offer a special Valentine’s Day menu; I strongly encourage reservations.

Quiessence – Quiessence offers a seasonally changing menu highlighting a rare, local, garden-to-table experience.  Not only does The Farm at South Mountain make for an unforgettable and romantic backdrop but the ingredients are as local as you can get; likely sourced walking distance from your table and the surrounding neighborhood.  Call to make reservations for the 11th, 12th, or 14th for an intimate Valentine’s Day dinner your sweetheart will never forget.

Paradise Valley

El Chorro – This true gem is by far one of my absolute favorite restaurants I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience. The stunning patio offers beautiful views (plus another fireplace!) and food that is just divine! The incredible sticky buns are served warm with your meal (dessert before dinner, yes please!!) and an impressive menu that everyone will be delighted by!

Lon’s at the Hermosa – Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn is beyond picturesque and romantic! This is a perfect spot to hit for an early dinner to enjoy the beautiful scenery on their gorgeous patio. Expect a sophisticated classic menu coupled with creative and delicious house bottled cocktails. Find the peace you’ve been longing for just the two of you to cozy up. You might even decide to splurge for a room to make it a whole weekend filled with relaxation and romance.

Carefree

Cafe Bink – Celebrated chef Kevin Binkley’s cozy bistro is a true foodie’s dream! Changing menus highlight seasonal offerings, but you can always count on french fries that will knock your socks off! The laid back vibe coupled with some of the best food in the valley is sure to be a wonderful night the two of you won’t soon forget!

Scottsdale

Sassi – Make your reservations for this north Scottsdale restaurant just before sunset; you will not be disappointed by the gorgeous view of the sun setting behind Pinnacle Peak Mountain. Too early for you? Go later and make a special request to be by one of their many cozy fireplaces. Amazing homemade pastas, caprese that will knock your socks off, and an incredible wine list that will make all the Winos swoon.

The Mission – Set to open their new location in Kierland soon; the original location is in Old Town Scottsdale. An adorable rustic and cozy vibe. I’m a big fan of their patio (next to the fireplace, seeing a trend yet?!). The table-side guacamole is a must; I may or may not have eaten the entire thing by myself (I was also eight months pregnant, so why not!). Other delectable must tries are their pozole and bean purees! This plus an array of specialty margaritas to make it a true fiesta!

Mastro’s – Three valley locations. Their fine dining restaurants are sure to satisfy any carnivore. Steaks served sizzling and perfectly made are the star of the night. Enjoy the beautiful sounds of the piano player while you dine on an incredible array of classic sides and feed each other the delectable chocolate covered strawberries to end the evening.

Sumo Maya – Located on Scottsdale road, this energetic and sexy spot mixes Mexican and Japanese fare that are sure to delight! Think guacamole and sushi … a dream come true!! This place has a happening vibe, DJ mixing the latest tunes, and a quirky decor with a gorgeous tree in the heart of the restaurant. Gives me throwback vibes of hitting the club with my love when we were young and reckless! Sip your margarita at the sushi bar to get some extra treats from the chefs or cozy up in a booth in the open aired restaurant.

Cafe Monarch – Okay, so I have not actually tried this one myself yet; we planned to go pre-baby but I wanted to be able to enjoy some wine, so we have waited to go for a special occasion post-baby. There is a fixed four course menu that changes weekly (always posted on their website). An elegant wine menu and add on desserts. Coupled with top star service and a truly dreamy atmosphere … I know where we’ll be celebrating our love this month!

Virtu – The setting doesn’t get much better. If you go when the weather is nice, their absolutely gorgeous outdoor patio with strings of lights is the perfect romantic setting. Nothing on the menu is a poor choice, and the menu changes frequently with the season, so you may not see the same things twice. The Ice Queen cocktail is amazing, and the charred octopus is outstanding. They’re also open for brunch, so consider a weekend visit if you don’t make it for dinner.

Talavera – The view from this restaurant, located at the Four Seasons Scottsdale, is one of the prettiest in the valley!  Talvera is a modern steakhouse featuring unique and artistic food pairings and seasonally inspired desserts.  The staff are very knowledgable offering great recommendations including what wine pairs perfectly with your order.

Tempe

House of Tricks – This charming restaurant with lush greenery boasts a stellar wine list and yummy grub. Fresh fish delivered daily (smoked salmon cakes anyone?! Yum!) is the star of this menu. Chic decor and adorable place settings makes this a delightful choice to wind down with your special someone!
