I grew up in a small town, and we didn’t have many options for shopping. But we did have a Walmart! I remember asking my Granny to take me to Walmart because it was my happy place. Truth be told: it still is. So naturally, when it was time for back to school shopping, we hit up our local North Phoenix Walmart, and boy was I excited about it!
I loved buying school supplies every year as a kid, and I don’t think I realized how much I was looking forward to it with my own daughter. Like a lot of schools these days, ours offers a school supplies kit for anyone who doesn’t want to do the shopping. That is so great, but so not for me! I am the mom who couldn’t wait to get in the freshly stocked aisles with the pristine notebooks and new pencils. Eeeeee!
We had a pretty small list this year for Kindergarten. At least, I think it was, but I’m totally new at this. We managed to get almost everything on our list (the elusive red Ticonderoga pencils were to be hunted down another day), including a backpack and some uniform pieces! I was so excited to save a little money on polo shirts! Score!
Are you a “shop for yourself” mom or an “order from the school” mom? Either way, it feels good to have the list checked off and be all set for the fresh new year with fresh new school supplies!
