The National Education Association’s Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that encourages every child in every community at every reading level to celebrate the importance and love of reading on March 2, which also happens to be the birthday of amazing children’s author Dr. Seuss!
Across the country reading events are taking place, creating environments of excitement while together sharing the joy and importance of reading. Read Across America is a national day of celebration important to our children at any level of reading.
Leaders across the country recognize Read Across America as a day of unprecedented importance to children and reading. Politicians, athletes, actors, and celebrities all show their support for the encouragement of reading at every age and level- and create an environment of encouragement and importance in reading fundamentals and the power reading has on each child’s minds.
“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book & read to a child.”
– Dr. Seuss
