Looking for something to do Memorial Day weekend with the kids? Phoenix Comicon is May 23-26 and if you have not been, what are you waiting for?! It is an amazing pop culture experience that you and your family are sure to enjoy! 🙂
One of my favorite parts of Comicon is seeing all the people that dress up! Some come as their favorite comic book super heroes, science fiction characters, action adventure stars and even Disney princesses! And they LOVE taking photos so don’t be afraid to ask! 😉 Just the people watching, could be reason enough to attend.
Kids 12 and under get in FREE! Two children allowed per one paying adult! 🙂 Some kid friendly highlights include:
Act Like a Monster Competition
Arizona Avengers Target Training Course
Create Your Own My Little Pony
Forget Neverland, Learn to be a Pirate!
Harry Potter Planetarium Show
Learn to Dance The Thriller
Magic Caulderon: Adventure Time
Magic Wand Making
Plants Vs. Zombies
Youth Lego Build Off
Full programming here.
Comicon is not just for kids, there is plenty for us moms to be excited about too! How about Wil Wheaton from Star Trek the Next Generation? Or Anthony Michael Hall from the Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles?! And the shopping… you could spend half a day easy, just looking at all the vendors and nerdy goods.
Last year, I met the author of the Last Unicorn and he signed a copy of his book for me. 🙂 I even got my picture taken with one my favorites, Tinkerbell (see below). There are definitely some “PG-13” events and costumes but overall, it is a family friendly event that your kids are sure to remember and talk about for years to come.
I will be there, camera in hand, and hope to see some familiar faces/other nerd loving Moms there too! 🙂
