Disclosure: Some supplies were provided by Oriental Trading for the purposes of completing this craft.
Just 4 days left in 2014 and our house is New Year’s ready. The trimmings are down and the tree is boxed up. We don’t do much decorating for New Year’s Eve, but I always love having a fun wreath adorn our front door.
Stacey spotted a fun paper straw wreath and I decided to turn it into a New Year’s starburst wreath. A simple wreath with just a few supplies. Most of which I picked up at the dollar store. Thanks to Oriental Trading for sending me paper straws to complete my project. They have a huge selection of paper straws in different colors and patterns (striped, polka dot, chevron, specialty).
Supplies:
7″ foam wreath form
ribbon
110 paper straws
Directions:
Secure the end of your ribbon to the wreath form using hot glue.
Wrap the wreath form with the ribbon until covered. Secure the end with more hot glue.
Keep 30 straws full length, Trim 1.5″ off 29 straws, cut the remaining 29 straws in half.
Place a small strip of glue at the inside of the ring. Alternate placing and glueing your long straws down against the inside edge. Spacing evenly along the way.
Place the halved straws in a second layer covering the remaining space, glue in place.
Finally take a piece of ribbon and glue a loop to the back of your wreath to hang.
That’s it; couldn’t get much easier! Add a bow to personalize. I love the neutral black and think it will be debuting at Halloween with an orange and purple bow.
Does your family do any decorating for New Year’s Eve?
LOVE :)!!!
So cute! <3
