Peoria Mom Vying for “Extreme Huntress” Title

A fellow West Valley mom needs our votes. Mindy Arthurs of Peoria is vying to become the nation’s next “Extreme Huntress.” She’s one of four women competing on the internet TV show. Mindy’s love of hunting began in 2008 when she went on a black bear hunt in northern Arizona. New episodes of the competition will air every other Sunday. Voting ends on January 1st.

One Sign of the Holiday Season

Now that Halloween is over, it seems retailers are ready to usher in the holidays, especially Starbucks. On November 1st the coffee giant released its Red Cup, a sure sign Christmas is right around the corner. (I won’t tell you the number of days because if you are like me, you don’t want to be reminded of it.) Several of my friends were very excited about the “Red Cups” and celebrated with a latte and a Facebook picture. Meantime, several other of my friends complained that the “Red Cups” came out way too early. Me? I don’t really care one way or the other. I’m still getting iced coffee. It’s still way too warm for me to switch to the hot stuff.

What do you think? Did Starbucks come out with their “Red Cups” too early or right on time?

Emily
The last few years have brought big changes for Emily. After spending years in high-stress, deadline-driven TV jobs in East Coast metros, family circumstances brought her and her husband Joel to the Arizona desert. Now this former news junkie is a stay-at-home mom to Miles, a fast-talking toddler with energy to spare. She spends her days teaching him about faith, letters, numbers and manners. Whenever he’s asleep she boots up the laptop to write for North Phoenix Moms Blog and other freelance gigs. Whatever spare time she has left is spent on a hike with her family or a rare date night with Joel, at the gym, coffee and dinner with friends, or in her craft room creating simple, beautiful jewelry for her online boutique, Hazel & May, and giving too many treats to her pups, Pepper and Gizmo.

  1. I never noticed the red cups before this year..it’s the appearance of the holiday drinks that means the season has started. But, Like you, I am still sticking with iced for the most part.
