We recently had the pleasure to test drive the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, rated Insurance Institute for Highway’s Safety Top Safety Pick for the 4th year in a row, and are so excited to share our insight with you! We partnered with Lunde Mitsubishi in Peoria and truly had a phenomenal experience!
Who are the mamas who drove the Mitsubishi Outlander for the weekend?
Stacey: Mompreneur, photographer, blog owner, and mom to a 16 year old, 6’5″ son. Stacey is constantly on the go for work, traveling all over the valley and racking up some serious drive time each week!
Kate: Nanny agency owner, member of the North Phoenix Moms Blog executive team, and mom to a 2 year old little man. Kate is also typically found in the car, dashing from one place to the next, squeezing it all in during the week!
Both mamas love to explore their wonderful city and also escape on the weekends when time and schedules permit!
The Mitsubishi Outlander in a Nutshell
The Mitsubishi Outlander is amazing! It’s a compact SUV, which seats seven (yes, seven!), has a folding and sliding second row (amazing for accessing the third row if needed for multiple kiddos), and comes with amazing features that all moms and families will love. From leather seating, an automatic liftgate (hello moms holding bags of groceries and trying to get it all in the car, while possibly holding a child in the other arm too!), a smartphone link display (voice texting in the car!), keyless entry, and all the controls on your steering wheel, you’re set to go once you slide in the driver’s seat. This SUV has an affordable price tag for families who are trying to gain seating for seven without breaking the bank and offers all kinds of safety features and added options that families will love.
Kate’s Experience
Kate’s family of soon-to-be four took the Outlander on a road trip to Payson for the weekend. The first thing she immediately noticed was the spacious second row seating and how simple car seat install was! With the car seat installed, there was still TONS of room for the front seat passenger, which is rare if you’re familiar with convertible car seats and the unpredictability of knowing how much space they take up. Kate’s husband is also 6’2″, and he was easily seated in the passenger seat – this is a rare find! It also offers ample leg room for back seat passengers, making road trips a breeze when mama has to climb in back to entertain a toddler on the drive home.
The trunk offered plenty of room for bags, and everything necessary for daily use. You can easily fit a stroller back there along with groceries, diaper bags, and all the daily necessities for buzzing around town. It would also be so easy to pack up for a road trip – just set the cruise control and go! And, with the 25 mpg in the city and roughly 30 mpg on the highway, you won’t be stopping for gas very often. Kate was also a huge fan of the Rockford Fosgate sound system and all the app possibilities for hands free driving and accessibility. One additional feature she loved was the indicator on the rear view mirrors that light up and make a small sound when a car approaches on either side and could potentially be sitting in your blind spot. This gave a little extra piece of mind and was a safety feature she would love!
Stacey’s Experience
Stacey is in the market for a new car and was very excited to test drive the Mitsubishi Outlander! Not only did she immediately fall in love with the Mercury Gray color but also all of the incredible hi-tech features: multi-view camera system, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert. What impressed her the most about this crossover SUV was the Apple CarPlay (Android Auto also available) which allowed her to get driving directions as well as access apps, including text messages, all simply by voice command!
Although Stacey loved the looks and feel of the car her main concern was would her growing teenager fit comfortably in the backseat? She was surprised to see he had plenty of room when riding in the second row, which is saying a lot for his 6’5″ frame. Her son was equally impressed with the hi-tech features and loved having his music available in the car without having to plug anything in. Her family of three, four if you count the puppy, each enjoyed the Outlander and were blown away with the gas mileage! Stacey is very much in the habit of filling her gas tank on a regular basis with the way she drives around town and kept looking at the gas gauge to see it barely moved!!
Both Stacey and Kate also want to mention that the customer service at Lunde Mitsubishi was unrivaled. Everyone encountered was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered assistance with any and all questions prior to them eagerly pulling out of the dealership parking lot. The staff also made themselves available for questions if needed throughout the weekend, and were truly committed to ensuring that the car experience and the dealership experience were both top notch! You can’t ask for more than that when you’re going through the process of buying a car. We’ve all encountered car salesmen who are only interested in you saying that you are purchasing – you won’t find that at Lunde Mitsubishi!
