When I actually do my hair, and don’t just have it flopped on top of my head in a mom bun… yeah, watch out man bun, the mom bun is way cooler… I often get asked how I get my beachy waves. I teamed up with Brie Bemis, awesome lifestyle and fashion blogger, and Stacey, owner of North Phoenix Moms Blog and Dream Studio Photography to do a quick tutorial for you all. Hope you enjoy it!
Items you will need:
Part your hair into 3 sections. Clip each section. This will help you know what you have and have not curled.
Wrap the hair around the wand. Hold the end towards the bottom. If you have longer hair you will take up the whole barrel, shorter hair will reach around the middle of the barrel. Continue wrapping small 1 to 1.5 inch sections. I curl away from my face for my first piece and then alternate every few curls. There is really no math equation for this, just do what feels right for your hair. You’ll get the same great beachy waves either way.
Spray your curls and shake them out.
Pin back the front piece to polish off the look. So simple… and does Brie look stunning, or what? PS – her makeup look is coming soon, so check back in.

What size hair wand do you recommend for this look? Can’t wait to try it out!
Hi! Thanks for asking. It really depends on the length of your hair. A smaller wand will give a tighter curl, combed out into wave hair, and works better on shorter to medium length hair. Larger (1 inch plus barrel) will give you a larger wave, combed out, leaving a beach style wave… I used a 3/4 inch on this style. Hope this helps!
