Girl Scout Cookies Go Digital

0

Today is National Milk Day… and what goes best with milk? Cookies of course. Better yet, Girl Scout Cookies! They go on sale on January 26th!!! And for the first time in the organization’s history, some girl scouts will be selling cookies online.

Digital Cookie debuted at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week. Girl Scout leaders say the organization is moving the cookie business online to keep up with the times and teach girls valuable lessons in business, marketing and technology.

This is the first year for the program, so some Girl Scout Councils won’t be selling online. I checked the local council, Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus Pine, and unfortunately they won’t be selling online this year. Still, I’m sure you can hit up a mom friend or two or three of girl scouts and get your cookie fix. You can also go to the website and put in your zip code and you’ll find pop-up cookie booths near you. I checked my area and there’s already a long, long list.

One last crumb to pass along. There are three new cookies you can buy this year. Toffee-tastic are gluten-free, as well as a new Trios recipe, and Rah Rah Raisin has chunks of Greek yogurt in it.

Hmmm… sounds pretty healthy. I may be able to stick to my resolutions. Nah… just give me those Thin Mints.

The last few years have brought big changes for Emily. After spending years in high-stress, deadline-driven TV jobs in East Coast metros, family circumstances brought her and her husband Joel to the Arizona desert. Now this former news junkie is a stay-at-home mom to Miles, a fast-talking toddler with energy to spare. She spends her days teaching him about faith, letters, numbers and manners. Whenever he’s asleep she boots up the laptop to write for North Phoenix Moms Blog and other freelance gigs. Whatever spare time she has left is spent on a hike with her family or a rare date night with Joel, at the gym, coffee and dinner with friends, or in her craft room creating simple, beautiful jewelry for her online boutique, Hazel & May, and giving too many treats to her pups, Pepper and Gizmo.
