Foodie Friday – Break from Holiday Shopping

0

DSC0069-2 Are you looking for a little break from the turkey and stuffing or looking to grab a bite to eat while enduring the madness of Black Friday shopping?  We suggest heading over to see Chef Bernie Kantak at The Gladly.  Three words my fellow foodies: Original Chopped Salad!   Self described as : “Often imitated I am corn, couscous, smoked salmon, asiago, pepitas, tomatoes, arugula & currants. All dressed up in a sassy buttermilk pesto dressing.”  It’ll refuel your body, while keeping it light, unlike how you may have eaten yesterday.  My favorite thing about this salad is everything, just kidding but not really.  What got me the first time was the unexpected texture of that couscous with the corn and then the sweetness of the currants and the creamy dressing.  It truly is the perfect after Thanksgiving meal.

If by chance you’re interested in filling up on some of Bernie’s other dishes, you can’t go wrong with the brussels sprouts and grits, the sausage pretzel and cheese or the pistachio chicken liver pate.  All these items are on their happy hour menu so head on over from 3-6pm and enjoy.   Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Meal, you know I did 😉 The Gladly

Diana was raised on the beach in San Diego eating ox tail and cow’s tongue, which helped form her love of water and all things edible. She spent a lot of her childhood in Seattle, where her family currently lives but moved down to Phoenix 10 years ago with her husband. Currently she plays ninjas and dragons with her two sons, Kellan and Carter, and eats her way through town for her blog, AZFoodie. Diana loves sharing the foodie culture in Phoenix and is thrilled to see it growing. You’ll find her chowing down all over town, laughing with the Chefs and schmoozing at the local food events.
