The triple digit temperatures are no longer a given which means it is time for Phoenix families to emerge from our reverse hibernation. Here are 7 family favorite activities to add to your fall bucket list!
- Take a Hike. Hands down my favorite thing about cooler temperatures. I will hike alone, with a group of friends as an active way to catch up, and I especially love family hikes or taking one of my kids out on the trails for some quality time. If you are newer to hiking or unsure of where to start but want to add hiking to your fall bucket list, check out one of our favorite articles on The Best Hikes for Kids in Phoenix!
- Enjoy the return of park season and have a picnic in the park! There’s something about eating outside that just makes the whole experience better for some reason. We have a great article with lots of picnic tips here to help you plan ahead of time. If you don’t already have a favorite local park, we have that covered too with this article on the best parks and playgrounds in and around Phoenix. This is also a great time to indulge in some ready to go Trader Joe’s fall treats, but if that isn’t enough to satisfy your taste buds be sure to…
- Indulge in fall recipes. As a busy mom, I’m willing to admit that the crock pot is one of our most used kitchen appliances. If that’s true for you too, you should check out this round up of fall slow cooker recipes. If you want to go all in on the pumpkin spice festivities we have a round up of favorite pumpkin recipes too. My favorite fall indulgence has to be Taylor Swift’s Chai Sugar Cookies (a must add recipe to your fall bucket list if you are a fellow Swiftie).
- Take a road trip for fall break: If your kids are on school schedules, fall break is a wonderful time to take a trip somewhere special. The memories from our family fall break trips are some of my favorites. Here are three of my favorite family day trips from Phoenix. If you’d like to make this more than a day trip experience, there are so many camping trip options– don’t forget to pack extras s’more supplies.
- Plan an outdoor date night: FALL in love all over again by switching up your usual date nights (or maybe remembering to add them to the calendar again!). I once again want to shout out hiking as a possibility here, but if that’s not your style, check out one of our favorite Patio and Rooftop Dining options. You could also opt for a night at the State Fair, which runs through most of October. A favorite date of mine is mural hunting, which inspired THIS post (you may want to make this one a day date if you are looking to get pictures WITH the murals instead of just heading out to see them!).
- Embrace cozy decor: I love the suggestions in this article that feel like timeless tips for cozy decor that fits with the season. If you’d rather be a little more hands on with your home decor instead of shopping for it, check out three lovely ways to make a DIY fall wreath– these are do-able even for beginner crafters!
- Celebrate the “Fallidays” but leave room in your schedule to actually enjoy them: Figure out what your family really loves about the fall holidays (Fallidays) of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Maybe that means coming up with a creative family costume or participating in a local Trunk or Treat. Maybe that means a visit to a pumpkin patch like Tolmachoff Farms or MacDonald’s Ranch. For us, it always includes expressing thankfulness- here are a few of our favorite ideas for doing just that.
What else is on your fall bucket list? We’d love to hear about if you try any of our suggestions and hope you enjoy all the wonderful things this season brings.
