If you are like me, you may be looking for new + interesting + unique + fun + cost effective activities for your kiddos to do this summer. This watercolor bubble art was all of the above! The idea came to me when I was scrolling through my Insta feed and saw a video of an artist doing watercolor bubbles and I thought I would simplify it for the kids. We used battery operated bubble makers but a simple bubble wand would work too.
What you’ll need:
- Bubble mixture (I used my Method Dishsoap)
- A bowl/tray (or you can add water color paint directly to bubble bottle)
- Watercolors
- Watercolor paper
- A tray to move from inside to outside
I personally selected red, orange and yellow for this project. I mixed watercolors in with my Method dishsoap + water.
I used the end of the bubble makers to mix the color in well. *Tip: if using battery operated bubble makers I recommend a shallow bowl.* We took our tray holding all of our bubble watercolor mixers outside and I let the kids go at it.
I placed the papers in my grass for the painting process. Honestly, the set up and clean up is longer than the actual painting part…unless you do multiple pages. It was certainly an activity that the kids loved and we will do it again soon. They super enjoyed it and I absolutely love the end result and new artwork. Totally kid tested and mom approved. Hope you try this watercolor bubble art + enjoy!
Looks like a great project for the kids I babysit! And since they’ll already be outside, clean up will be easy, just turn on the sprinklers or hose and let them clean themselves up! ๐
I’m looking forward to working with your blog on the Zillow partnership, hope to hear from you soon.
