Recently I was told by a fellow book lover about a local bookstore that I had to visit! As I pulled up to the used bookstore about a month later, I thought to myself that this may be where my childhood dance studio was located. I parked my car, headed in and noticed the large window in the neighboring store facing the parking lot that further confirmed my hunch. I entered the what seems to be, from the outside, tiny store trying to remember the layout of the studio I attended from the age of 5 to 13… It was not until I headed into the back room FULL of books that my memories were fully confirmed. I was walking on the same wooden floors that I danced on so many years ago! I walked around looking at the books with my family, listening to my footsteps creak on the old wooden floor. In a couple of spots, you can even notice the mirrored walls hiding behind the books. We purchased a few books from Dog Eared Pages that afternoon and I just knew I had found what was going to be my new favorite bookstore! π
This bookstore is in trouble. And it needs our help. I received a newsletter update from Dog Eared Pages, explaining the hard times they (and many other local small bookstores) are facing. They are competing with the likes of Amazon and the age of digital. I knew I wanted to do something, anything to help out. To encourage sales and to support local business, I am asking every book lover, mother, teacher, gift giver to visit this store and buy a book! Or two… or three! π They have an amazing collection of books and you can trade in your old books too. Head there to pick up a good read for your summer vacation. Or buy some books for your children or anyone else on your gift list.
For every $5 you spend, you will receive one entry to win a FREE portrait session including five digital files and prints of your choice (value $350). Over the next 30 days, the bookstore will be trying to raise funds to stay in business and you have the opportunity to help them out! I encourage you to share this post on Facebook, via email or by any means you can! Comment on this page letting me know you made a purchase at the store and keep your receipt! Provide me with your email address and I will contact you for confirmation of your purchase.
Bookstores could now be classified as endangered species and, if we are to save them, now is the time to act. I encourage book lovers everywhere, please support your local bookstore.”
