Creative, Simple and Fun DIY Gifts for the Holidays

0

Christmas is coming and so is the yearly ritual of moms stressing out trying to figure out gifts for everyone. It’s hard to know what to get everyone and making sure to stay on a budget can add some unneeded stress. Well, we’re here to help with a few suggestions that can be homemade by you or your kids and are also easy on your wallet.

DIY Gifts

1. Photo Gifts are some of my favorite things to give and receive. I was gifted a photo bookmark similar to this one as a gift for Mother’s Day this year from my daughter (her teachers are amazing) with a sewn heart as the balloon. This is a great DIY gift idea.  With supervision, the child can sew & stuff the mini heart, or you can laminate one like above. A couple other alternative ways to finish this could be with a tassel or you could make a double-sided magnetic bookmark.  Or check out this super cute DIY Instagram ornament.. have you and yours been #naughty or #nice?!

2. These handprint keychain and love feet art are both adorable and make a great gift for relatives! Both are easy DIY gifts to create and the kids will love it because painting any part of their body is fun.

3. Sugar scrubs and bath salts are everywhere. I know they are nothing new but they are honestly so easy to make, kids can help, and I’ve been told months later that the recipients enjoyed it. Cass offers a gingerbread, cinnamon, and candy cane scents that all sound wonderful. If you’re worried about the red dye, you could forego it and tie a candy cane to the top instead.

4. Beeswax or soy wax candles are something your kids can help make and are fun to gift with a unique candle holder or small jar such as the one pictured.

5. Baked goods are a delicious treat that most anyone would love to receive. Nothing says the holidays like Peppermint Bark and Christmas Cookies. This is very easy to make at home and your kids will love smashing the candy canes (and maybe you will too if the stresses are high).

These are only a few of the insane amount of DIY options available.  For more ideas check out all the DIY projects on the blog! I liked how all of the gifts featured here include the option of adding a child’s help. My hope for all you readers is that you get gifts done early, you enjoy the season, and you remember that memories are greater than gifts.
