Time to Start Being Creative and Places to do Just That

1

It has been all about creativity for me this month after reading Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for inspiration and motivation in your life. This book took me on a journey and caused me to seek out some incredible art studios here in the valley that I am looking forward to visiting someday soon.

The Art House Gilbert

I lucked out when I ran across this charming art studio on Instagram ,and after checking out their website, I was hooked. Owner Valerie McKiernan, a mom who has a love for art, crafts, and hosting parties, has created a sweet and inviting place for everyone to come and create something to treasure. The studio hosts several public classes that guide you through amazing art projects and it offers local drinks and food for you to enjoy during certain events. I was excited to see the Summer Kids Camps offered as well, for kids ages 4 to 10. Whether you are interested in attending a public art class or wanting to plan a private party, you will definitely want to check out this local gem.

Pinspiration

The name alone piqued my interest, and I quickly found that this is a crafter’s paradise.  You can create anything from home décor signs, to jewelry, to fondant cake toppers … the list goes on.  One of my favorites is the Jackson Pollack inspired splatter room they have for adults and kids to experience.  The splatter date package sounds like it would make an amazing date night too! They have a drink and light bites m1enu you can order from on date nights too!  Pinspiration also has a DIY Maker Summer Camp for kiddos ages 5 to 12.  I encourage you to visit their website and discover all the fun things there are to make.

Made By 2 Sisters at Studio 223

One of my sweet, dear friends invited me to a private party she hosted here last year and it was so fun!  I painted a personalized gift for my husband for Valentine’s Day (I’ll be honest, it was just as much a gift for me because I absolutely love it!).  There are so many appealing sign options to select from and you can also choose the custom design that allows you to invent the perfect masterpiece that speaks to you with the studio’s assistance. Made By 2 Sisters at Studio 223 holds workshops, private parties and kid’s parties.  You may want to check it out for your next girl’s night out too!

Desert Dragon Pottery

If you want to give ceramics a try, then look into attending a class at Desert Dragon Pottery.  The specialized services this unique art studio offers include: pottery wheel classes, sculpture classes, paint on pottery, glaze classes and open studio space. I have always wanted to learn how to use a pottery wheel, so I was very pleased to discover The Wheel: Mini Taste of Pottery Class. You get a hands-on pottery wheel lesson and a choice of pottery to decorate and glaze that is yours to keep for only $25.00.  Little ones can also enjoy the fun by attending their Summer Kids Clay Camp offered in June and July. This is the perfect activity to add to your summer calendar if you are searching to try something new.

Many of these studios require you to make reservations by phone or online, so make sure you take a peek at their websites before your visit. My hope is that you find a place that inspires you and allows you to explore your imagination. So I will leave you with a quote from Elizabeth Gilbert from her book Big Magic, “Your own reasons to make are reason enough. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.”
