3 Healthy Valentine Treats to Share With Your Kiddos

0

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate the ones you love and let them know how much you care. What better way to celebrate than showering your kids with delicious (and healthy) finger foods to eat! Below, I will share three of my favorite go-to Valentine treats that will be sure to please your little ones!

1. Heart Shaped Pizza

When you want to enjoy Valentine’s Day with a healthier twist, making a homemade pizza is a great way to have control over what goes into your food. Once you make your dough, divide it into 2 balls. On a lightly floured surface, stretch 1 ball of dough into a 10-inch round. Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper, then slide the parchment and dough onto an inverted baking sheet. Use a pair of kitchen shears or a paring knife to cut the pizza dough into the shape of a large heart.  For added flavor, you can drizzle olive oil on your dough before adding your favorite pizza sauce! Top your pizza off with piles of veggies for added nutritional value.

2. Chocolate Covered Clementines

We all want to avoid as much sugar as possible, but we often forget that nature offers so many options for natural sugar sources that can serve as a replacement for dessert. Pairing uber sweet clementines with some tart dark melted chocolate is a delicious combination for you and your family on Valentine’s Day. Place your chocolate chips or chunks in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds. You’ll want to carefully remove the bowl, stir the chocolate, and continue to heat and stir (no longer than a minute or two) until melted and smooth. Once it’s cooled, dip and enjoy!

3. Peanut Butter and Jelly Valentine Sandwiches

You can never go wrong with a classic sandwich such as peanut butter and jelly! If you have picky eaters, this Valentine’s Day treat is perfect for you.  To transform this sandwich into a perfect Valentine’s Day treat, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut your sandwiches. You can make multiple sandwiches and place them on a cute red or pink platter to add an extra touch. They’ll definitely gobble up this snack quickly!

Your kids appreciate the special things you do for them and they’ll love the thought and time you put into making them exceptional Valentine’s Day treats!
