Since Valentine’s Day is less than two weeks away, I thought it would be fun for me to share a cute DIY idea for some fun “Valentine’s Kisses” nails to get in the mood. You can use whatever colors you would like, but I think the white and hot pink is perfect for Valentine’s Day!
1) Here is what you’ll need: 2 polishes and a top coat. I am using a white LA Colors polish and a hot pink Nail Art polish that comes with a skinny brush that is easy for doing designs. I got both of these at Dollar Tree for, you guessed it, $1. You don’t need a design-style polish; you can use a toothpick or similar object with whatever polish you have. My favorite topcoats OPI’s, but whatever one you like is perfect.
2) Paint nails with a few coats of one of your polishes. I am using white, which I had to do 3 coats to get the coverage I wanted. White polish has been in since last spring and I think it is a good change from the darker colors I’ve been wearing since fall.
3) Pick a few nails to make the kissy lips design on. All you need to do is make an M shape for the top lip and a curved line for the bottom. It really doesn’t have to be perfect and if you plan to make them slanted, it is a bit easier.
4) I chose to do the lips on my left thumb and my right ring finger. I added a heart on my left ring finger, since that is the finger that holds the ring to my Valentine. Finish with a topcoat and you are done! Make sure the design is completely dry before do the topcoat to keep from smearing it.
My nails are always messy around my cuticles, so you can use a q-tip to clean them up with nail polish remover or just wait til you get in the shower and rub off the extra polish like I do.
Hope you like this little tutorial and it starts you thinking of that special Valentine in your life! ♥
